Help Brethren in Turkey

Bro. Bigan and Sis. Marzieh fled from Iran to Turkey in 2015 to escape persecution for converting from Islam to Christianity. This is against the law in Iran and is punishable by imprisonment or even execution. Many of our Iranian brethren have endured prison sentences before finding a means of escape. There are approximately 250 Christadelphian refugees living in Turkey, meeting in four ecclesias scattered throughout the country. Some members have been in Turkey for up to ten years waiting for resettlement in a safe country!

Talent Beyond Boundaries

The Canadian Immigration has a
number of programs for sponsoring refugees.
The Group of Five (G5) could fit our situation!
How it works

Our Mission

Our mission is to raise sufficient funds through an incorporated society called the Foundation for Hope for Christadelphian Refugees to sponsor at least some of our brothers and sisters who are currently in danger in Turkey and other countries to emigrate to Canada.

Financial Support

Sponsors of immigrating refugees are responsible for providing start up costs as well as income support for at least 12 months.  Although the Canada Immigration guide estimates the costs of sponsorship of a family of 3 at $26,700.00, with the high cost of living in Vancouver and extra considerations for a special needs child, we estimate that the minimum cost for the sponsorship would be at least $50,000.00

Therefore we are urgently request for your donations of any amount – we need to have sufficient funds raised in order to launch a sponsorship!

Start-up Costs: These include furniture, household items, such as kitchen utensils, cookware, cleaning items, winter clothing, linens, food staples, utility connection feesand any costs for English training.

Monthly Costs: These include housing rent, electricity and heat, utilities (phone/internet services), food, public transportation passes (including wheelchair accessible for this family)and other incidental costs.

Social Support

Because of the amount of daily help needed initially, we are appealing for a brother and/or sister who, with help from the Foundation for accommodation, could devote their time to be the primary contacts for assisting the family for a period of one month or more after their arrival.  This would mean accompanying them to appointments, helping with filling out forms for various services, helping them become familiar with public transportation, shopping, banking services, the location of local medical clinics, and taking them to worship services.

In addition to the primary support, we welcome any offers of assistance on a periodic basis to assist with any of the services mentioned, or even invite the family for a meal, and generally make them feel welcome in our community.  Many hands make for lighter work. We realize that this is a Big Ask and a seemingly daunting project!  But we know that "with God all things are possible."  Mark 10:27

Please join us in praying that it may be our Heavenly Father's will to "open the windows of heaven" for us and send help. 2nd Kings 7.
